Travel information - the islands are easily accessible despite their remoteness, there are ferries and flights daily (no Sunday ferry). 

By Ferry - Caledonian Macbrayne run a direct car and passenger service from Ullapool to Stornoway and from Uig in Skye to Tarbert in Harris. It's essential that you book your journey in advance and arrive at the ferry terminal before loading time if you're travelling in a vehicle.

Prices vary considerably depending on vehicle length


By Air - Special deals are available if booked more than 2 weeks in advance. Flights from Glasgow to Stornoway and Inverness to Stornoway, daily except Sunday. Surf-boards will cost an extra £5 approx. to travel by air.

By Rail - From Euston to Inverness costs £50 return, £26 single, if booked a week in advance. Boards are carried in the guards van.
